Cordless calling for retail floors, stockrooms, warehouses, and offices in Austin and Houston. BCS surveys the building, installs the network connections, and tests calls where your people work.
A DECT handset connects by cordless radio to a compatible base station. The base connects to your business phone platform over an Ethernet network. DECT coverage is separate from Wi-Fi coverage, so a strong Wi-Fi signal does not prove that the phone will work in the same aisle or back room.
Staff can carry an extension while helping customers, checking inventory, or walking between work areas. The critical design question is whether they need coverage in one zone or uninterrupted calling across several zones.
A single-cell base can be a practical choice for a compact store or office. Yealink’s W70B supports up to 10 handsets, 10 SIP accounts, and 20 simultaneous calls. These limits describe capacity, not the size of the coverage area. BCS assesses how the base will register and work with your existing Aeonix, Wildix, or Intermedia phone system.
Yealink rates W70B coverage at up to 50 meters (about 164 feet) indoors and 300 meters outdoors in ideal conditions. A compatible RT30 repeater may extend a weak area, but a repeater does not add call paths. Placement, SIP registration, supported features, and the phone platform’s provisioning method must be checked before ordering.

The numbers below are rough starting assumptions for planning, not manufacturer-rated ranges, guaranteed distances, or measurements from your site. The ideal 164-foot indoor maximum is not a promise through walls.
| Area | Initial planning estimate | Main concern |
|---|---|---|
| Open plan or light drywall | Roughly 100–130 feet | Multiple partitions and base placement |
| Concrete, brick, or masonry | Roughly 40–60 feet through difficult sections | Reinforced walls, stairwells, and cores |
| Metal warehouse or stockroom | No dependable distance without testing | Steel shelving, stock, and reflections |
Yealink’s deployment guidance places light partitions at lower attenuation, concrete at high attenuation, and metal at very high attenuation. A live call and signal test across the actual floor plan is the deciding step. Read the W70B deployment guide.
A true multi-cell system uses coordinated base stations. With compatible handsets and a correctly designed system, an employee can roam between cells and hand over an active call. Installing two independent single-cell bases is not the same thing.
Multi-cell may fit a larger retail store, a concrete building with separated wings, multiple floors, or a warehouse with metal shelving. Yealink offers W80 and W90 multi-cell systems, but the number and placement of bases must come from a measured survey. Test the complete walk path, including stockrooms, receiving, stairwells, and loading areas. See Yealink’s W80 multi-cell system.
Aeonix and Wildix: Yealink DECT handsets and bases can work with Aeonix and Wildix through SIP configuration. The exact model, firmware, account registration, call features, provisioning method, and vendor support policy should be checked in the customer’s deployment before specifying hardware. A working SIP registration does not by itself guarantee directory, transfer, or roaming behavior.
Intermedia Unite: Intermedia’s published hardware and supported-device pages list the W70B. We did not find W80 or W90 on its current public supported-device list. Intermedia also offers an AnyPhone BYOP path for manually configured SIP devices, but functionality and support may be limited. Do not assume that a Yealink multi-cell kit will receive Intermedia’s standard automatic provisioning or full feature support.
BCS can review your Aeonix, Wildix, or Intermedia environment, confirm the exact hardware and support arrangement, and test registration, key calling features, and roaming before recommending a multi-cell design. Depending on the building and your requirements, a single base, a properly placed repeater, or a coordinated multi-cell system may be the better fit. It may, but reinforced concrete can sharply reduce usable coverage. Test the call on both sides of the barrier rather than relying on a fixed distance.
No. A repeater can extend a single base’s radio coverage; it does not add call capacity or make independent bases a coordinated multi-cell system.
That requires a properly designed, compatible multi-cell system with active-call handover. Confirm the phone platform and test the walk path.
No. DECT handsets use DECT radio. A phone app uses Wi-Fi or cellular data. Each can suit a different staff workflow and needs its own coverage test.
