What is Sip Trunking?

required by most telephone companies. It can be much more
flexible as you can terminate your phone numbers anywhere in the
world with high speed connections. Sip trunk require a
VOIP PBX or gateway that will support and terminate sip trunk.
The demand for Sip trunk have become more popular in the last
few years because of the combination of affordability and
cost savings it brings to small to medium business. Most
Sip trunk providers will provide support for Direct Inward
Dialing (DID), caller id names, caller id numbers, inbound and
outbound trunks.
Here are a few senarios of how we have implemented Sip trunking
for our customers.
Sip Trunk Senario Number One
Customer have two locations. One in Austin TX and one in
San Antonio. Customer currently employ one full time
receptionist in Austin. Customer cannot justify hiring a
full time receptionist in San Antonio, as the office in San
Antonio is too small. We integrated the two system into
one system with the help of Sip trunks and MPLS Point-to-Point
Circuit. Customer now maintain only one phone system in
Austin, TX. We move the San Antonio phone lines to Austin
using Sip trunks technology. San Antonio connects to the
Austin office via Point-to-Point MPLS circuit with Qos (Quality
of Service) for voice (in the form of data packets) as a
priority over regular data packets.
Sip Trunk Senario Number Two
One of our Austin based customer is looking to expand their
customer to San Antonio. Without utilizing any technology,
customer will have to lease an office space, purchase office
equipment, order phone service, order internet service, hire
receptionist to answer phone just for the San Antonio office,
etc. We recommend the use of sip trunking to our customer.
Customer currently have an Allworx 24x phone system. The
only thing we had to do was order more bandwidth and 2 sip
trunks with 10 phone numbers for the San Antonio office.
Now, the customer have a local presence in San Antonio without
full cost of operating a business.
Sip Trunk Senario Number Three
Customer is moving from California to Austin, TX. Customer
would like to keep their California phone numbers as they would
like to continue to service their California based customer.
